The village is set amongst a network of steeply sloping streets, steps and alleyways and retains a strong historic link with the sea, reminiscent of days gone by with fishermen in small boats and smugglers dodging the excise men. The origins of the name are unknown but there are many speculations. The name does not appear in any records until the sixteenth century, although it is sometimes known as 'Baytown'. We offer clean, quiet, comfortable accommodation and can cater for parties of up to 12 people. Hikers welcome, packed lunches available on request. Children over 14 welcome. Click here for map.
